Safe Passages at McAuley Village
McAuley Village: The Village provides single-parent families with two years of family-building transitional housing in a safe and secure apartment building on Niagara Street in Providence. All Village parents are required to work or enroll in school and all pay a portion of their rent while residing at the Village.
The Safe Passages Program: Village families are sponsored for a period of 12 months, provided with family-building services that help them move beyond the issues and circumstances that held them back and towards independent and productive lives. Participating organizations are offered volunteer opportunities for employees to witness first hand the difference they are making. A year-long sponsorship for a Safe Passages family is $3,500 and a six-month sponsorship is $1,750.
History: McAuley Village opened its doors in 1990. Since that time, many community leaders have joined in the mission to support, advocate and guide homeless families toward independent living.
