Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteers are an essential part of the work we do.

McAuley Ministries relies upon the skills and kindness of more than 200 volunteers.

They help children with homework. They cut vegetables and serve plates of hot food. They sort clothing. They teach art, mow the lawn and welcome visitors.

Volunteer opportunities exist for:

Individuals: Many opportunities exist throughout the week for individuals seeking to donate time and talent in their community.

Organizations: Church and school groups can serve meals at McAuley House, sponsor events at McAuley Village, and lead clothing drives for the Warde-robe, among other opportunities. Hold a fund raiser such as a bake sale, pretend lunch, or walk for hunger walkathon.

Corporate partners: Companies can arrange for team-building volunteer opportunities as part of the Lunch on Us at McAuley House sponsorship program.

Volunteer opportunities are available at our three ministries:

McAuley Village

  • Tutors: Offer assistance with women preparing for their GED tests. Help is needed with basic math, reading, and writing skills. Hours of assistance can be flexible.
  • Mentors: Professional and self-assured women can offer invaluable assistance to women who need guidance and support while moving from homelessness and poverty to independence and self-sufficiency. Our single parent women can also use support and advice while learning to develop child-rearing and child-nurturing skills.
  • Child Care Assistants: Children love one-on-one attention. We welcome adults and seniors who can offer story-telling, assistance during play time and craft-activity time. Best hours are from Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
