A Message From The Executive Director

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about McAuley Ministries. We are an independent nonprofit 501c3 organization sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, Northeast Community whose work is rooted in the ideals of their founder, Catherine McAuley. Our core values are rooted in charity and justice, and everyone is served with Hospitality, Compassion and Dignity.

We have a rich heritage of providing the basic human needs of food, shelter, clothing and respect to the poor, homeless and most vulnerable in our community. By spending a few minutes here with us, you can get to know more about each Ministry and the wonderful work our volunteers and staff perform every day.

McAuley House is our meal site and social service center where nearly 300 meals are served each day in a healthy “restaurant-style” atmosphere based on the Healing Foods Project menu. We serve breakfast and lunch, and provide hearty take-away dinners. Our Social Service team offers various forms of assistance to help our guests pay rent, buy medication, secure documentation, find transportation, and connect with other resources for housing, employment and mental health services. An enriching afternoon program is offered daily and Art Therapy is offered weekly to provide our guests with the tools to help them better enjoy life.

McAuley Village is our two-year transitional living program designed to help homeless mothers and their children get back on their feet and move forward. The moms meet regularly with staff and participate in a wide range of on-site programs, including GED classes, life-skills training, social services and workforce development. At the end of the two years, our moms will have achieved a better education, a better paying job and have become self-sufficient so they can provide a better life for themselves and their children.

The Child Care Learning Center at McAuley Village offers quality early education and child care. The Center offers a rich learning environment following the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards, and our Head Start and Early Head Start Programs are part of the BrightStars Program.

The Warde-robe is a volunteer-supported thrift store in Central Falls that offers quality used clothing and household goods to those in need. Customers are working families from Central Falls, Pawtucket and Cumberland who seek necessities at an affordable price.  The store is clean and well organized with seasonal clothing for the whole family and household items. It provides a welcoming atmosphere and respects the dignity of each shopper. Donations of quality used clothing and household items are welcome.

At McAuley Ministries we strive to make a difference for a day, a week, and longer in the life of a woman, child or man in need. We call these works of charity and volunteerism "McAuley Miracles,” and they happen every day at McAuley House, McAuley Village and The Warde-robe. You can help sustain McAuley Ministries into the future with a contribution of your time and expertise or with financial support.

Thank you for allowing us to share with you, here, some of our essential and life-giving labors.

With gratitude,

Barbara Haynes
