Volunteer Opportunities

Get Involved! Volunteer.

Volunteers are an essential part of the work of McAuley Ministries. Currently, we benefit from the skills and kindness of more than 100 volunteers who donate their time to help our ministries and those we serve. And, we are always looking to recruit new volunteers who want to donate their time in service to others.

Across our Ministries, volunteer opportunities exist for individuals, businesses and organizations, Churches, and School groups. In fact, volunteering as a group—whether through your company or organization—is a great team-building activity! The specific volunteer needs of our Ministries are:

McAuley House

  • Food Preparation and Serving: Volunteers are invited to help prepare and serve the day’s breakfast and lunch meals. Available times are between 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Monday—Friday.
  • Van Drivers: Help our kitchen manager pick up food donations at local stores and in our community.
  • House and Administrative Support: There is always a lot going on at McAuley House each day, and volunteers are critical to everything we do. Volunteer duties include front desk greeters, office and data entry assistants, clothing distribution helpers, and anyone who’d like to help keep our property looking beautiful.
  • Afternoon Program Assistants: Our Afternoon Program is full of enrichment activities and we can always use the help of volunteers who want to share their special skills, from leading music activities and knitting to arts and crafts, and special workshops like anger management and financial literacy.

For information on available volunteer opportunities, or to donate your time, please contact Yvette Kenner, McAuley House Administrator, at (401) 941-9013 ext. 302,
or via email.

McAuley Village

  • Tutors: Our moms benefit from volunteers who provide assistance with helping them prepare for their GED test, through basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Mentors: Professional and self-assured women can offer invaluable assistance to the moms who need guidance and support while moving from homelessness and poverty to independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Utilizing your Special Skills: Do you have a passion that you like to share with others? From knitting, cooking and drawing, to dance, yoga, parenting and more, we love when volunteers want to teach the moms at the Village their specialties.
  • Child Care Assistants: Everyone knows that children love one-on-one attention! We welcome adults and seniors who can offer story-telling, assistance during play time, and an extra set of hands during arts & crafts. The best hours for this help are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and from 2:30 p.m.
     to 4:30 p.m.

For more information on volunteer opportunities or to get involved, contact Rev. Michele Matott at (401) 467-3630 ext. 10, or by email.

The Warde-robe

  • Clothing Organizers: We can always use help sorting donated clothing and household goods, and arranging our shopping area.
  • Retail Assistants: Our customers appreciate being greeted by a smiling face and friendly voice willing to help them as they shop.

If you’d like to learn more about volunteering at The Warde-robe, please contact Andrés Montoya, Manager, at (401) 729-0405, or by sending an email.
