A Message from the Art Program Director

Mar 22, 2020

Art gives us the courage to move forward with our lives.

The program started as an opportunity for guests of McAuley House to gather together on a weekly basis with a variety of art supplies available to engage in the creative process.

Some of us have been creating art together since the group started twelve years ago. However, we always welcome new guests to join the group.

Three of our artists are currently represented by ArtLifting, which empowers artists living with homelessness or disabilities through the celebration and sale of their artwork. ArtLifting is about creating opportunity, empowerment, and validation with the goal of making a living as an artist.

As an Expressive Arts therapist, it has been a privilege to be a witness to the healing power of art. I created this blog to share the art and stories of some of our artists, along with bits of inspiring information. I hope you enjoy it!
